On Saturday 9th November a group of cyclists from Active RSL arrived in Cowra to begin a week-long bike tour of our region. The group is made up of RSL sub-Branch members, family and friends from as far afield as Adelaide, Melbourne, the Northern Rivers and Queensland. There are sixteen riders and three support vehicles in the group.
The group completes one or two rides per year, with the aim of promoting the work of RSL sub-Branches and supporting different areas of our country.
This ride has been named the Remembrance Ride, to honour past and present service personnel. The group met at Club Cowra for a dinner get together on Saturday evening, where they were welcomed to Cowra by members of the local RSL sub-Branch.
They then reconvened near the Cowra Rose Garden on Sunday morning to begin their ride. Prior to setting off, the Ode was recited to reaffirm the reason for the ride.
Over the next week, the group will visit Grenfell, Goolagong, Forbes, Parkes and Canowindra before returning to Cowra on Friday. They will connect with RSL sub-Branch members from some of their stops, as well as villages in between.
