PCYC Cowra Manager Geoff Taylor says the installation of air conditioning at the Young Road site will be a game changer for indoor sport and gymnasium hire in Cowra.

It comes after the PCYC was awarded a $250,000 grant to be spent on installing air conditioning at its Young Road site. Split system units will be installed in the front rooms of the building, while larger industrial units will be installed in the main gymnasium.

Solar panels will also be installed on the roof to help offset any additional power usage and costs, while 42 new LED lights will be installed in the gymnasium, offering better and more cost effective lighting.

A layer of ‘Monoflex’ material will be placed along the inside of the walls inside the gymnasium, which will boost the insulation of the room and make it more decorative.

Mr Taylor said this massive boost to the facility would “take the weather out of sports in Cowra”.

“You won’t know if it’s +40 or -40,” he said.

“It will be great especially in summer. When it’s 40 outside it can feel more like 60 inside the gymnasium.”

“It will not only benefit PCYC sports, but also other sports organisations that can hire the PCYC, as well as private functions and birthday parties, knowing the room will be air conditioned.”

Installations are expected to commence soon.
