Ambulance Station Unveiled
Cowra’s schmick new ambulance station was officially opened by NSW Ambulance Deputy Commissioner David Dutton at a ceremony at the new station on Monday.
The station has already been in use for around a year now, but it was officially unveiled this week to coincide with the completion of five other new ambulance stations across the Cootamundra electorate. The new station, on Kite Street, is a far cry from the old one on Shelley Street, with local paramedics far better equipped than what they were previously.
Deputy Commissioner Dutton said it was a privilege to have a start of the art facility in Cowra, particularly because of the large number of paramedics that begin their career here.
“It’s a modern and contemporary base of operation,” he said. “Many paramedics start here and then go on to serve in other towns. It’s an exciting new facility,”
The new station was funded as part of the State Government’s $132 million RARE program.
Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke said this project was only one of many infrastructure projects in the plans for Cowra.
“Cowra has more infrastructure projects than any other town in the Cootamundra electorate at the moment, along with the planned new hospital,” she said.
“I’d like to thank all of the paramedics that work from here. I’m very grateful for their service. They are life savers.”
