Another Successful Round Of Community Grants For Cowra

Recipients of Round 2 of the 2024-25 Cowra Community Grants have been announced - the 20th round of grants since the program’s inception, with one underlying goal to benefit a wide range of projects that contribute to community development across the region.
This round saw 22 applications, with 21 being approved, totalling nearly $27,000 in grants. This funding will assist in a variety of initiatives across key sectors including building and facility development, sport and recreation, and small capital equipment. Over the course of 20 rounds, the Cowra Community Grant program has funded 382 projects worth $456,740.94, further cementing its role as a cornerstone in supporting community led growth and well-being.
Among the most impactful grants this round, Woodstock Memorial Show received $2,000 to upgrade the interior lighting and safety exit signs at the Walli Memorial Hall, improving the safety and experience for local events. Darbys Falls Bushfire Brigade Inc. was awarded $1,987.05 to install a kitchen and essential facilities to support the community during times of crisis, an effort that will directly enhance the region’s emergency preparedness.
Additionally, Cowra Rugby League Football Club will use their $2,000 grant to refresh the canteen and clubhouse at the West Cowra Recreation Ground, creating a better environment for players and volunteers. And, in a move that supports a number of local organisations, Cowra and District Seniors Citizens Club will install a new Daiken Split System Air-Conditioner to ensure a comfortable space for its programs and events.
The successful recipients were celebrated at a presentation event last week, where Mayor Paul Smith expressed his pride in the continued growth of community led projects in Cowra. “This round of grants demonstrates how vital local initiatives are in shaping the future of our community,” said Mayor Smith. “From upgrades to essential infrastructure to opportunities in sports and recreation, these projects will make a lasting impact. It’s heartening to see our community come together, and these grants are a testament to the hard work and passion of our local organisations.”
Mayor Smith added, “We are committed to supporting our local groups and ensuring that every dollar invested helps create a brighter, more connected Cowra Shire. I’m excited to see how these projects will enhance the lives of our residents and visitors.”
The Cowra Community Grants program continues to empower local organisations, enabling them to bring valuable projects to life and ensuring that Cowra Shire remains a vibrant and supportive community for all.
