Cowra Shire Council 2021 election candidate Donna Peters says she will advocate heavily for more job opportunities, boosted tourism and improved roads if elected as a Cowra Shire Councillor on December 4.

Her ideas for Cowra include more public art spaces, creating jobs at Cowra Airport, a medium level bridge, a walk of fame, and a busker’s picnic.

Ms Peters said there was an opportunity at-tract more aero businesses to Cowra from Sydney now that the Badgerys Creek Airport is almost operational and land rates at Sydney airports had started inflating.

“The most recent Census figures released state the average age of Cowra residents is 42, which means the average resident is employable for another 25 years. I believe my policy will help to open employment opportunities,” she said.

Ms Peters said a medium level bridge would solve the issues caused by the river occasionally rising above the existing low level bridge.

“A medium level bridge would have remained operational throughout the recent Wyangala Dam releases, and it could also have a dedicated emergency services lane” she said.

Ms Peters said tourism in Cowra could be boosted by a Buskers Picnic, Walk of Fame and more public art spaces.

“I will encourage Council to seek art grants, enabling murals and other art works on water tanks at POW Camp, the Squire Park wall, Coles’ wall in Macquarie Street, Target Laneway and eventually other public buildings in the Shire,” she said.

“My plan for the Buskers Picnic is to have it regularly on Saturday evenings during day-light savings time at Bryant Park, opposite the caravan park, where buskers of any age or genre are welcome to busk for the public who can take a picnic with them.”

“I would envisage the Walk of Fame to be along the riverbank, and visitors could take a walk and see artistic depictions of nationally famous locals such as Elle Carpenter, Murray the Red Wiggle and Tom Raudonikis.”
