Footy fans were treated to an early treat this year with the first Under 21’s side taking to the field at Sid Kallas on Sunday after-noon.

The spectators searched for some shade as the Magpies took on St Pats. The Cowra side came out with a fire in the bellies but Bathurst were able to capitalize on the gaps in defence and gained a place on the scoreboard in the first few minutes. St Pats continued to score until a professional foul saw a Bathurst player sin binned, casting them wide open for Cowra to score their first try.

With some rather large players stacked on their side Bathurst bustled through the magpies utilizing their small errors. Even though the Magpies struggled to defeat St Pats they didn’t let their foot off the throttle enduring the hot temperature and solid wall of defence from the opposition. At the end of the clock Bathurst took home the win at 44-10.

Despite the loss it was a solid effort and an achievement for Cowra and the magpies to see an energetic and eager to play side emerge. With the first round of the 2022 season edging closer for the seniors, locals are eagerly waiting to see how the sides will shape up this year.
