Community Markets: As you would expect, the recent COVID outbreak in Sydney has affected us with the cancellation of the July Community Markets. The Management Committee felt it was too risky to conduct a market in a public space with the present circumstances and the ongoing risk to regional NSW. Hopefully by next month things will be safer.

Defibrillator Training: Several Management Committee members underwent training in the use of our new defibrillator, under the instruction of Kerry Lynch. Our sincere thanks to Kerry for giving us his time and expertise. The defibrillator will be kept in the Market trailer so it is available at all times should it be needed in an emergency.

Trailer Modification: The amount of equip-ment we take to the Markets no longer fits in the trailer. As a consequence, much of this is stored at member’s homes, which is inconvenient. Power Tools Plus is extending the trailer sides and hinging the back panel so everything will fit and be easily accessed. Much easier for those setting up at the Markets each month!

Client Assistance: We are always looking for new ways to expand our client base. We have begun an arrangement with Western Care Lodge at Orange Base Hospital where we contribute towards the cost of accommodation for Cowra residents. This assistance is available on the referral of Western Care Lodge and without the need for an interview with the Chest. This month we have assisted 1 new client and provided on-going assistance to 3 more.

Types of Assistance: There are many ways we can help you. The Chest can pay for doctor’s fees, pharmacy costs, diagnostic tests, medical equipment, physio and many other medically related costs. Contact Cowra Community Chest on 0428 462 837 or by email at ccchest7@gmail.com
