Coota Park is set to celebrate its 25th anniversary next month with its annual on-property bull sale on Tuesday 6th September.

Coota Park owner Jon Wright, along with his family, purchased the property, near Woodstock, in 1996, and began its famous Blue-E program the following year.

The Blue-E program uses genetics from both Shorthorn and Angus bulls, creating many benefits for commercial producers.

In 2019 Coota Park introduced genetics from Simmental and Stabilizer influences, with the first progeny of these introductions on offer at this year’s sale. The progeny has undergone rigorous testing to become a part of the Blue-E program, with Coota Park able to provide all types of data on these bulls so buyers know exactly the benefits of their purchase.

Mr Wright said his breeding program was world class, and Coota Park had been recording feed efficiency of its bulls for longer than any other bull stud on the world.

“Our breeding focus remains at the future of commercial cattlemen and women. It is a huge responsibility to be thinking about what type of cattle are needed for your future and we do not take that lightly,” he said.

“We have been working closely with Sydney University and collecting methane data to further research the [emissions] reductions that can be made.”

Coota Park prides itself on low emissions bull production, and uses its feed efficiency methods to achieve this.

Their aim is to produce more efficient bulls that produce less methane per kilogram, remaining focused on the science behind it, having had 1500 bulls tested since 1997.

“We are extremely proud of the 50 bulls to be presented for sale and stand by every single one. They have passed all criteria in our selection processes,” Mr Wright said.

The sale starts at 2pm on-property at 890 Goodacre Drive, Woodstock NSW 2793.
