Running for local office has been a long- held ambition for me, as my grandfather was a Cowra Councillor and Deputy Mayor many years ago.
My number one priority is - I have a lot to learn and a lot of people to meet. I have a passion and a deep seeded connection to our town and to the people who live here.
Creating jobs through our tourism sec-tor and promoting industry will always bring money to the town to help support existing businesses and provide work opportunities for locals, but I am also interested in making our town better for the residents who already live and work here. Rates, water and roads are local issues that need attention too. If elected I will be committed to do all I can to not just keep our services and facilities, but to enhance them.
We have amazing local employers who train their employees to a very high standard. We have many areas of skills shortages and there are great groups who are fostering support for this to be addressed, which Council supports. I think that is exciting for our future.
The new plans for the hospital will be primary focus for me. We have amazing staff at our local hospital who provide exceptional care. The hospital upgrade is a vitally important project for our community as well as the surrounding areas.
I believe that to get the best results you need to put great people around you and be able to listen, while always staying true to yourself. Communication is the key.
