Cowra Athletics are getting set to make their return to summer sports this year and despite low numbers, President Briony Woodhouse is keeping optimistic about the season ahead.
“We are slowly starting to see our regis-tration number increase, but we are still down compared to previous years. We have received a lot of interest from new families this year and we are looking forward to welcoming them,” she said.
“We have been successful in obtaining 3 grants over the past few months - a Cowra Council grant, and Cowra Services Club and Coles community fund grants, which together have totaled over $4000. We have used these funds to update some equipment and have purchased some registration gifts for athletes this year,” Briony said.
Gaining new registrations is at the top of the clubs list and they are eager to invite newcomers.
“Our club nights are Thursday starting at 5pm and are held at Twigg Oval. We have restructured our Tiny Tots program (age 3 and 4 year olds) with the main aim to develop running, jumping and throwing skills through games,” Briony said.
