Cowra commemorated ANZAC Day on Monday with a number of events right across the shire including dawn services, marches, a ringing if the peace bell and a cadets service at the Lachlan Valley Railway museum.
The traditional dawn service in Cowra was well attended, and featured the usual formalities hosted by the local RSL Sub Branch, as well as a local choir. It paved the way for a mid-morning service at the War Cemetery which led into the march in the CBD and a public wreath laying ceremony.
Other services across the shire includ-ed a morning service in Darbys Falls, a dawn service and morning march in Gooloogong, and afternoon march in Woodstock, and a dawn service in Wyangala Village.
“I also wish to recognise our RSL Subbranches, Veterans organisations and volunteers who make every effort to ensure this important day continues to be central to the community calendar,” said Member For Cootamundra Steph Cooke. “With commemorative events being held across the globe, it is very special for us to see a return of local services and events in many of our towns and villages following the disruption of Covid-19 in recent years.”
