Continuing Assistance: you may not be aware that Chest assistance is not limited to a single circumstance. Many of our clients have on-going needs or chronic illnesses and in these cases further help is often necessary. In this way, Cowra Community Chests can support those who would otherwise struggle over long periods of time.

Chest Protocols: We are sometimes asked why we don’t assist when the township knows of a family in need and there may be fundraising going on for such a family. In order to honour our client confidentiality, our By-Laws state that Cowra Community Chest may not approach prospective clients, unless they have given permission for us to do so. In this instance, it would have to be a family member or a third party who might make contact with the Chest. Once that contact is made, the Chest is permitted to offer assistance.

Looking Ahead: As we enter another year of community service our focus will still be on providing as much assistance as we possibly can to those who live in Cowra Shire. To do this we need to continue to responsibly manage our finances. As a not-for-profit charity we are required to abide by the laws that govern such organisations. There are checks and balances in place to make sure we are operating within these laws. It’s exciting to look ahead and know that The Chest will still have a strong place in the local community.

Memberships Due: a reminder that memberships are now due, being $10 for adults and $5 for under 18’s. Payment can be made in person at the office in the Centre Arcade (open Thursday mornings after Jan 13th) or by post to P O Box 208, Cowra.
