Cowra Shire Council is placing the 2024 Review of the Pedestrian and Cycling Draft Plan on public exhibition. This comprehensive plan is now set to be placed on display for public exhibition for 28 days.

Mayor Ruth Fagan expressed her enthusiasm about this significant development, stating, “Council is delighted to be able to put the review of the Cowra Pedestrian and Cycling Plan on public exhibition. Although there has been plenty of consultation within the Council and community groups, it is important that all residents get the opportunity to look at the plan and provide their feedback.”

Over the past decade, 16 projects from the previous plan have been successfully completed, significantly enhancing the walking and cycling infrastructure in Cowra.

“Walking and cycling in Cowra is so much easier, and I encourage everyone to enjoy these new facilities,” Mayor Fagan added.

The new plan identifies an additional 42 projects, each graded according to its importance. Mayor Fagan highlighted the strategic value of having a plan in place, saying - “By having a plan, the Council can apply for grant funding when it becomes available, and it is amazing how many projects can be accomplished over 10 years.”

The plan also focuses on areas in the town and surrounding villages that require more footpaths, and the Council is eager to hear about other potential ideas from residents.

“We are keen to hear about other possible ideas from residents,” said Mayor Fagan.

Community members are encouraged to review the plan and submit their feedback during the 28-day exhibition period. The document is available for viewing on the Council website, at the Library, and in the foyer of Cowra Shire Council, located at 116 Kendal Street, Cowra.
