Cowra Council Announces Innovative School Based Traineeship Program For 2025
Cowra Council is delighted to announce the introduction of a school-based traineeship program, commencing in 2025. This forward-thinking initiative is designed to provide high school students with invaluable work experience across a range of sectors while they complete their Year 11 and 12 studies.
The program will offer traineeships in several key areas, including finance, business, stores, information technology, parks and gardens, the Cowra Materials Recycling Facility (MRF), waste and water management, saleyards, and civil construction. Trainees will have the opportunity to work one day per week over a two-year period, gaining practical experience and earning a Certificate II or III that contributes towards their Higher School Certificate (HSC).
Paul Devery, General Manager of Cowra Council, expressed his support for the program “As a major publicly funded employer in our community, it is important that Council takes proactive steps to support young people in their transition from education to employment. I am confident that many of our trainees will be well-positioned to pursue full-time roles with Council upon completion of their traineeship and academic studies, thereby enriching our local workforce with emerging talent.
These traineeships offer exceptional opportunities, and I encourage students and their families to explore the available positions, engage with us, and apply.”
Students will commence roles in 2025, and will complete a minimum of 100 days of paid employment.
Those interested in participating in this program are advised to seek further information from Councils current vacancies page at www.cowracouncil.com.au. Applications close Sunday 22 September.
