Cowra Eisteddfods Maddy Charnock Steps Down As President
Last week, a heartfelt dinner was hosted to coreminate Mandy Charnock, who has recently resigned as president of the Cowra Eisteddfod. Mandy has worked for the Eisteddfod for a long time. Many members of the committee attended the dinner of, which was hosted at Montrose House in Canowindra.
Jan Munday gave a presentation on behalf of all the members outlining the many years of contribution Mandy has provided to the Eisteddfod. Mandy participated in the eisteddfod for the first time as 8-year-old contestant Amanda Hadson in the Highland Dancing Sections, which were held at the Methodist Hall (Uniting Church Hall) and featured live bagpipe music. She persisted in participating in dancing competitions for several years.
She later joined the committee as the dance entry secretary when she was a teenager.
She came back as the Dancing Entry Secretary in 1996/97 after a long absence.
She was appointed Vice President in 2005 and subsequently moved up to President in November 2007, where she remained up until recently. Mandy received the Life Member recognition in 2015 in honour of her many years of dedication to the Eisteddfod.
Mandy is a highly dedicated committee member who frequently spends a lot of time organising the Roster, scheduling appointments for the adjudicators, planning the meals for the numerous volunteers, and many other extra tasks as needed.
The 2024 Eisteddfod curriculum modification is now taking up the committee’s time. The first Thursday of every month at 7 o’clock is when meetings take place at Club Cowra. The organisation welcomes everybody who is interested. The Annual Meeting will take place on November 2nd
