Borrowing and reserving items from Cowra Library has taken a futuristic leap with an innovative way to collect and return Library items.
Cowra Library has installed a Book Locker providing 24 hours Library service, seven days a week to the Cowra community.
It is a first for the Central West Libraries service.
Funded by the State Library’s Public Library Infrastructure Grant program, the 24/7 Book Locker adds to the Library’s technical resources. It is the final item as part of the recent Cowra Library transformation to create a modern welcoming community space.
Cowra Librarian Terry Mills-Edward said she was excited to take delivery of the Book Locker from FE Technologies as it offered convenience for Library members.
“We are so excited to have the Book Locker installed. The book locker allows Library members to reserve and collect items at their convenience”, Ms MillsEdward said.
“When reserving items they just need to choose “Cowra Locker” as their pick up location.”
“They will be notified when the item is ready for collection from the book locker, they touch the screen, enter their Library Membership Number and the respective locker opens for them, and they collect their item.”
“It will be great for Library members wanting to collect their items outside Library Opening Hours.”
“Library members will also be able to return Library items safely and securely at a time that is convenient to them.”
“It is all about providing an easy-to-use service for our community. Reserving and borrowing books is a free service and we have no late fees. It is free to become a Library member and you have access to thousands of items from books to magazines, audiobooks to DVDs, Large Print and more,” she said.
