The hot temperatures didn’t stop eager netballers from descending on Cowra last Sunday to take part in the greatly anticipated carnival, with teams travelling from West Wyalong, Canberra, Bathurst, Narrandera, Yass, Dubbo, Cootamundra, Tuggeranong and Lithgow to take part. The courts were buzzing with activity as teams played and shifted around the courts to take on their next opponents.
Although Covid forced a small number of teams to pull out at the last minute, the response was staggering and the support was overwhelming, seeing the Under 15’s division spilling over to the Cowra PCYC to play. There was no mistaking the competitive, electric air on the court as players gave it their all under the piping hot sun.
Although the main aim is to win, the day was filled with smiles, team chants and laughter as the players immersed themselves in the carnival, and their games against neighbouring towns.
The carnival was a terrific day for Cowra Netball and their players, who are now looking forward to their own season starting, which is due to begin in a matter of weeks. Registrations for Net Set Go will close on April 2nd and Senior team registrations are due 1st of April. For more information on getting involved, head to Cowra Netball Association on Facebook to enquire.
