Cowra Public School Raises $37,000 For World’s Greatest Shave
Cowra Public School has pulled off one of its greatest fundraising achievements by raising $37,004 in its World’s Greatest Shave fundraiser event.
The fundraiser was held at the school on March 31, with 21 people participating and raising funds for the occasion.
The World’s Greatest Shave initiative supports the Leukaemia Foundation, and all funds raised came in through the Leukaemia Foundation website.
Participants shared the link to the page via social media to attract support and donations, and posters with QR codes to the web page were also on display in Coles.
Cowra Public School teacher Emma Tree, who organised the event, said it was amazing to see the amount of support from the community for the event. “We had Coles donate the BBQ food on the day, as well as allow us to put up our posters. Mr Embroidery donated beanies, Ginger & Gelato donated ear-rings, F8 Hair donated a free haircut, and Brotherfox Barbershop, Angelo’s Barbershop and hairdresser Lisa Pullen donated their time doing the shaving at the event,” she said.
“The whole school was in the hall to watch the shaving take place, and they paid a gold coin donation to get their hair coloured. It was an amazing event.” Sarah casey was the top fundraiser, raising over $5000. Raising over $1000 were also Emma Tree, Amanda Partridge, Alison Eaton, Kylie Wood, Fiona Skene, Sheridan Oborn, Prue James and Sam Smith.
