During January the Cowra Regional Art Gallery seeks to uncover the portraiture talents of budding artists in the region. Children between the ages of 5 and 18 are encouraged to participate in a free workshop hosted by the Gallery every Thursday during January and enter their finished artwork into the Cowra Young Archie Competition.
The Cowra Young Archie competition is part of the Archibald Prize Regional Tour 2021 that will be on display at Cowra Regional Art Gallery from Saturday 19 March until Sunday 1 May 2022.
The Cowra Young Archie competition is open to residents of the Cowra, Bathurst, Blayney, Cabonne, Orange, Weddin and Hilltops LGAs.
There are 4 categories:5-8 year olds; 9-12 year olds, 13-15 year olds, 16-18 year olds. One winner from each category will receive $50 provided by the exhibition sponsor ANZ Bank

Until 30 January 2022 the Cowra Regional Art Gallery is presenting the exhibition Adrienne Doig: It’s all about me! In this exceptional and enjoyable exhibition Blue Mountains based artist Adrienne Doig presents layered responses to universal themes that have social, environmental and political narratives. By manipulating, reworking and combining imagery from multiple sources, Doig records her own experiences within a larger context.
Pushing the boundaries of the genre of self-portraiture, her various explorations also highlight the utilisation of different media including embroidery, quilting, appliqu, collage, sculpture and installation to express the evolution of her ideas The Gallery is located at 77 Darling Street Cowra hours are Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 4pm and Sunday 2pm to 4pm. The Gallery will be open from 12pm to 4pm on Wednesday 26 January 2022. Admission is free.
