Cootamundra MP Steph Cooke was on hand January 18 to present the Cowra Show $132,535 to upgrade the venue’s amenities as a part of the NSW Government’s Crown Reserves Improvement Fund.
As a result of the grant, Cowra Show Society is set to fully refurbish Cowra Showground pavilion with specific improvements being made to amenities for males, females and people with a disability.
Ms Cooke said the latest round of funding as a part of the NSW Government’s Crown Reserves Improvement Fund, that will bring the amount spent on the pavilion to nearly $600,000 over the last three years, including the installation of air conditioning and painting.
She praised the efforts of the Cowra Show Society to help bring the venue up to modern day standards.
“Cowra’s Show Society is hard working and passionate and done it all on the back of volunteer labour,” she said. “More events means more income which means more facilities like this can be self-sustainable and self-sustaining that means there’s less of a burden on tax-payers and rate payers to maintain these facilities.
“I’m really proud of the efforts the Show Society has gone to,” said Ms Cooke.
“It’s these types of efforts in these communities that make all the difference.”
