Cowra Sports Person of the Year 2021-22 Monthly Nominee – Daniel Britton – Rugby Union
Daniel Britton has been nominated for his achievement in being selected for the NSW Country Rugby Union under 16 team.
Dan commenced playing rugby union for Cowra back in 2013 as a promising full-back in the Walla Rugby under 9’s team. He has not missed a season since then and has transitioned smoothly into the five-eighth position. Dan was first selected into a Central West Zone representative team as an 11 year old playing up a grade in the under 12’s. He has represented Central West Zone every year since in the NSW Country Championships. At this year’s NSW Country Carnival Dan played so impressively at five-eighth in his five games, that the representative selectors had no choice but to pick him as starting five-eighth in the NSW Coun-try u’16 team to play against the NSW CHS u’16 team.
Unfortunately, Dan broke his hand playing for Cowra soon after and was unable to take the field for his NSW Country debut.
Dan’s injury has also been a huge blow for the local Cowra team who has failed to win any of the games the talented playmaker has missed since being injured.
Dan hopes to improve on his impressive efforts this season and is targeting selection in the NSW Country u’18 team in 2022 as one of his key goals.
Dan is a worthy nominee for the 2021-22 Cowra Sports Person of the Year Award.
