The time of year has come around for winter sports where competitions begin to heat up with teams battling it out to dominate the leader boards and collect their trophies. Cowra clubs are full throttle toward the finish line.

Cowra Eagles - The first cab off the rank kicking off the end of season excitement was the Eagles who glided in with their enormous achievement decades in the making. The town was buzzing with the news of the Eagles securing the minor premiership over the weekend and Union fans couldn’t be prouder of our Cowra boys. The Eagles took on Orange Emus over the weekend with the scoreboard finishing at 23-12, skyrocketing them into the finals. Eagles fans are gearing up to get be-hind the team, keeping the fire burning in their bellies going into their second clash with the Emus this weekend and the potential rights to host the grand final. The Under 12’s in the Eagles nest also caught the red hot winning fever dominating against Bathurst 42-34.

Junior Rugby League - Cowra teams took to the field to battle it out for their positions in the top 5. The under 12’s won against the Panthers 24-14 taking them into the preliminary finals while the Under 14’s had taken out the minor premiership against Orange Bloomfield Wildcats 18-6. The Under 14’s win has earned them a week off and they will head into their fight for their spot in the grand final next weekend. The under 13’s and 15’s were knocked out of the running for the winning positions.

The semi final will see Under 12’s face Panthers this Saturday in Lithgow.

Senior Rugby League - Reserve grade were given a weekend off following Lithgow’s decision to pull out of last week-end’s game. They will face St Pats this weekend in Cowra.

Under 18’s took home the win on Saturday against Lithgow workies 24-16. Senior League Tag also hit the jackpot winning against Lithgow 10-8. Both teams will take on St Pats on Saturday.

AFL - The Cowra Blues took on the Dubbo Demons here in Cowra over the weekend, winning against the opposition 10.7-67- 4.5-29. They will take on Bathurst Bushranger Rebels at Waratah Sports Club in Orange this Saturday.
