The Cowra Tourism Corporation shown that collaboration is key to boosting tourism in Cowra by teaming up with local tourism operators to make its upcoming Winter Wanderlust a possibility.

Collaboration was one of the key future strategies announced by CTC earlier this year at its ‘Talking Tourism’ event, when it also launched its upcoming new Cowra Region Visitor’s Guide.

CTC Chairperson Erin Watt said at the time better collaboration with local hospitality, accommodation and activity providers was the key to opening up the true potential of tourism in Cowra.

Winter Wanderlust has proven that this strategy will be of great benefit to Cowra, with CTC collaborating with the Ironbark Smoked BBQ, The Quarry Restaurant, Rosnay Organic Wines, Central West Tours, Strawberry Hills Events, Something You Love, Cowra Civic Centre, Lachlan Valley Railway, Plated To Please and Antonio’s Wines to make this massive event possible.

Running for three days, Winter Wanderlust has been arranged to coincide with the annual Cowra Wine Show public tasting exhibition of Saturday 23rd July, giving travellers to town for that event the opportunity to experience what the Cowra region has to offer.

“Our aim is to encourage visitors coming for the Cowra Wine Show Public Tasting to stay longer and spend more money in the region by building on the incredible event that is the Cowra Wine Show and making a whole weekend out of it,” said CTC Acting Manager Kurt Overzet.

Winter Wanderlust will run from Friday 22nd July to Sunday 24th July, with the festival starting at the Ironbark Smoked BBQ with a four-course meal and live music by Shane Kerr on the Friday night from 6pm. Tickets are $65 per person. Bookings are essential and can be made at https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing?eid=924557

A long lunch will be hosted at The Quarry Restaurant from 12:30pm to 3:30pm the next day, including a presentation from local winemaker Ian from Kalari Wines. Phone the restaurant on 0425 219 809 for bookings and more information.

Strawberry Hills and Something You Love will team up to host a local wine sipping and painting session later that afternoon, from 2pm to 4pm. This event will take place at the Cowra Japanese Garden, with the $75 fee including entry to the Garden, a grazing table as well as painting materials and tuition. Bookings are essential at www.trybooking.com/ events/landing?eid=924559&.

Rosnay Organic Wines’ Sam Statham will offer wine tasting at the Visitor Information Centre from 3pm for $10 per person. He will also have olives, oils, vinegars, pastes and figs available for tasting.

Following the Saturday evening’s wine how there will be a ‘Hangover Breakfast” and artisan markets outside the Cowra Civic Centre from 8am on the Sunday morning, for free. This event will include live entertainment, gourmet market stalls, local produce and scrumptious breakfast offerings.

Lachlan Valley Railway, Antonio’s Wines and Plated To Please will team up to deliver three high teas on the lounge car at the LVR Museum on the Sunday, with sessions at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Tickets are $45 per adult and $25 per child.

Bookings are essential at www.trybooking.com/events/landing?eid=924562&.
