Cowra Shire Council 2021 Election can-didate Alex Cozadinos says he will focus on ensuring Council builds on its core re-sponsibilities if elected as a Councillor this Saturday.

Mr Cozadinos, a retired teacher from the ACT, had been looking for a meaningful way to contribute to the Cowra community after relocating here from Canberra and purchasing a property in the shire.

He said he felt he had great leadership skills to bring to the table, and decided to put them to use by running in the Cowra Council election.

“My leadership skills are demonstrated through my experiences as a Head of Science and a teacher in two ACT schools, as well as in a number of representative positions with the ACT Board of Senior Second-ary Studies,” he said.

Mr Cozadinos said it was important to take a realistic approach to Council should he be elected, and would focus on the core business of Council.

“What I commit myself to is to ensure that Cowra Shire Council focuses only on the core business of local governments as outlined by the Local Government Act 1993 No 30 [NSW], unlike some of the recent practices of ‘progressive’ Councils in NSW, and to be actively involved on your behalf in the core business of Council,” he said Mr Cozadinos said he would also stand for Australian values and freedoms, en-suring resident’s voices are heard, assist residents in accessing and understanding Council services, encourage and support the growth of new and established locally owned businesses, and support the local farming community.
