Cowra Information and Neighbourhood Centre Manager Fran Stead has thanked the Cowra Bowling Club for its “amazing” support, following their donation to fund a new wheelchair friendly bus for the local service.

Cowra Bowling Club Manager Marc Eisenhauer officially announced at a ceremony last Wednesday that his club would donate $97,000 for the new bus for CINC, which will allow them to transport two people in wheelchairs at any one time.

Fran said that she was overwhelmed by the generosity of the Bowling Club, and said the bus would be a game-changer for CINC.

“The club has given us amazing support, and I hope that this will be the start of a long relationship,” she said.

Fran said the Bowling Club contacted her last year with the interest in supporting CINC, and showed immediate interest in the project after she presented to the board last December.

Bowling Club Manager Marc Eisenhauer said the board’s decision to support the project and fund it in full was the fastest board decision he’s ever seen.

“To me this is what clubs are all about - supporting their community, and this is exactly what we’re doing. I’d like to thank our members for sup-porting us, because without their support, the club wouldn’t be able to make donations like this.”

The 10-seater bus will feature split ramps from the rear to accommodate wheelchairs, wand will be used for transportation as well as excursions.
