Cowra Council acknowledges with deep respect and gratitude the significant contributions of Councillors Bill West, Judi Smith, and Sharon D’Elboux, who are stepping down from their roles after years of dedicated public service.

Councillor Bill West has been a guiding force in shaping Cowra’s growth and development. His tenure has been marked by a steadfast commitment to enhancing local infrastructure and championing community initiatives. Bill has served as Councillor since 1999, as Deputy Mayor from 2004-2005, and as Mayor from 2008 until he stood down in 2023. Bill’s strategic vision and tireless efforts have left a lasting mark on our region, and his leadership will be remembered fondly.

Judi Smith’s service has been characterised by her unwavering dedication to social issues and community welfare.

Her advocacy for equitable access to services and her compassionate approach to local concerns have profoundly impacted the lives of many. Judi’s contributions to the Tidy Towns Committee, the Cowra Youth Council and the Reconciliation Working Party, as well as being an important voice for the Woodstock community are some of her many great contributions.

Sharon D’Elboux has been a dynamic and passionate member of the Council, her innovative approaches and tireless efforts towards the Cowra Regional Art Gallery and the CBD Committee have not gone unnoticed. Sharon’s forwardthinking strategies have set a high standard for future Councillors to aspire to.

Council wishes Bill, Judy and Sharon all the best in their future endeavours and thanks them for their inspiring service to the Cowra community.
