Hope Trek To Come To Cowra
Cowra will see an influx of visitors during the first weekend of May, with the Hope 4 U foundation’s inaugural Hope Trek coming to Cowra. The Trek will run from the Hawkesbury region of Sydney to Cowra and feature heritage vehicles, with participants encouraged to drive pre-1993 vehicles on the journey.
The trek is being held to raise funds and awareness for suicide intervention and support programs that are run by Hope 4 U.
Hope 4 U Director and Founder, Dianne Russell, said the inaugural event was coming to Cowra due to the number of enquires the foundation had received from Cowra.
“It’s all about understanding more about mental health and breaking barriers and stigma,” she said.
“We will likely have around 120 participants coming to Cowra for the night as part of the event.”
The Cowra Showground will host the trekkers on Saturday the 6th May for one night, where they will have lunch and dinner, and hold talks about mental health.
The event follows a number of ‘Hope Walks’ already hosted by Hope 4 U, and Dianne said she hoped to make the Hope Trek an annual event.
“We want as many people as possible involved, particularly men, who are sta-tistically most at risk,” she said.
“If you don’t have a historic vehicle you are still most welcome to join in.” Dianne also thanked the Rotary Club of Cowra for offering its time in assisting with the event.
