Hovells Creek’s Erosion Control Field Day

Hovells Creek Landcare Group is hosting an erosion control field day to showcase our past and current erosion control projects and to provide information on different kinds of erosion control.

Locations: Monica and Allan McDonald’s property, McDonald Farm Trees, at 50 Peter Whitty Drive Darbys Falls and Anne and Michael Holloways’ property, Belmore, at 101 Clearview Rd Darbys Falls.

Biosecurity

Please make sure you have cleaned the underside of your car and boots before coming.

Agenda

8:30am Arrive at McDonald Farm Trees bi-tumen forecourt. We will drive together to the former erosion gully site and hear what has been done to fix it.

9:30am Head to Belmore for morning tea 10:15am Talk by Peter Kirwan on the types of erosion, different approaches to control and examples of control measures and costs

11:00am Slide show of erosion control works done by HCLG and some of its members over the last 20 years and cur-rent work on eight local properties

11:40am Brief overview of works done at Belmore by Michael Holloway

11:50am Inspection of the erosion gully in three places

12.45pm Lunch

Directions:

1. Heading north, turn right onto Mt McDonald Rd just after Darbys Falls and after 2.8km turn right onto to Peter Whitty Rd. McDonalds is at the end of the road. Drive in and park in the bitumen area near the house. 2. Go back to Darbys Falls Rd and turn left. Travel for c. 3km and turn left onto Clearview Rd then follow the signs to Belmore. Please park outside the house gate at Holloways.

No charge to HCLG members and associates or $10 per person for non-members
