How To Give Your Garden That Extra One Percent
Top tips for your green space from the team at the Cowra Japanese Garden Just like that here we are back to December and the festive season. Time to sit in the backyard with friends, family, and a glass of something cold. But how is your garden looking? Are things a bit wild from all the recent rain?
At the Garden we take immense pride in keeping our 12.5 acres looking immaculate all year round, whatever the weather. To do this it takes a lot of effort from the garden team, not just on the big jobs but the small ones too. We call making time for those small jobs our ‘one per-centers’ - the edge that takes a garden from good to great.
By that we mean getting to all those nitty gritty jobs that in the larger scheme of things might seem tiny, but make a big difference to the overall effect. It means dealing with small weeds poking through gravel paths and pavers, cleaning leaf litter from in and around garden beds, creating neat edges, and snipping off old flower buds that have finished their beautiful show.
Other smaller jobs could be giving your lawn an extra drop of water in drier areas, or a feed of fertiliser to make it green and lush. Removing any dead branches or suckering growths at the base of your trees can also make your garden looked ‘loved’.
So take a walk around your back yard and take a minute to get to those little ‘one percenters’ before the Christmas barbie. Your garden (and guests) will appreciate the difference.
