Laura Price Impresses The Prime Minister
Federal Member for Riverina Michael McCormack recently gave an opportunity to Youth Ambassador Laura Price, an outstanding Cowra Year 11 student, to meet the Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese.
Mr McCormack introduced the two during the 80th Anniversary of the Cowra Breakout commemorations. Mr Albanese was captivated by Laura’s remarkable attitude and presentation. Mr Albanese commended Laura on winning Mr McCormack’s annual ANZAC writing competition earlier this year and wished her the best of luck for her Higher School Certificate and future endeavours.
“Laura was the Lantern Bearer and the leader of the Lantern Parade during the 80th Anniversary of the Cowra Prisoner of War Breakout and is also the Deputy Chair of the Cowra Youth Council and laid wreaths on the group’s behalf,” Mr McCormack said.
“After meeting Laura at various events, it is clear she is an extraordinary young woman who has a bright future ahead.
“Mr Albanese was delighted to meet a young woman who makes such a wonderful contribution to her region.
“Along with her many other successes, Laura also enjoys participating in various sports, including League Tag, athletics and netball. She is also a keen horse rider and enjoys working on the family farm.
“I’m sure Laura’s parents, Matthew and Lisa Price, are incredibly proud of all five of their children and their successes and they made comment about how thrilled they were that the Prime Minister engaged in conversation with Laura.”
Laura was extremely proud to lead the Lantern Parade as the Lantern Bearer in this year’s events and was thankful to Mr McCormack for introducing her to the Prime Minister, an opportunity she will never forget.
“I was honoured to be one of the 11 Cowra Breakout Youth Ambassadors, enjoying incredible opportunities throughout the commemorations. A highlight was the memorable chat with the Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, which I will always treasure,” Laura said“All the special events were truly remarkable and unforgettable.”
