Members Vote Yes For Merger
The merger of the Cowra Bowling Club and the Cowra Golf Club is now just a formality away, after the members of both clubs voted heavily in favour of the proposal last week.
The merger proposal is now in the hands of Liquor and Gaming NSW for approval, which go through a process over a period of time to legalise the merger. The application was made to Liquor and Gaming NSW last week, after Cowra Bowling Club members voted unanimously in favour of the merger, and Cowra Golf Club members voted 113-1 in favour.
A memorandum of understanding had been written and agreed to by both clubs earlier this year, with members of both clubs being required to be notified of the merger plans, and then cast their votes on it, for the merger to legally proceed.
Cowra Bowling Club General Manager, and impending General Manager of both clubs, Marc Eisenhauer, previously told The Cowra Phoenix would be a great benefit to the Cowra community as a whole.
“It’s all about doing the right thing for the town and delivering on the benefits this will create,” he said in August.
“It will grow and improve both clubs.” Under the MOU arrangements, the Cowra Bowling Club will become the parent club of both clubs, and will inherit all assets and liabilities of the Cowra Golf Club.
The CBC will also assume management of the CGC.
Mr Eisenhauer will become the General Manager of both clubs, while James Kirwan will be appointed as the Venue Manager of the Cowra Golf Club.
A new, single board will be formed to oversee both clubs, with an advisory committee to be established to oversee the golf course and golf events at the CGC.
