Peter Wright Focuses on Business & Rural Growth

I’ve completed three terms as a Councillor and am offering my services for the next term of council.

At this stage I’d like to commend all nominees for Cowra Council and it’s going to be exciting to be part of this large and enthusiastic field.

In the last three terms I’ve seen the creation of the Cowra Youth Council, the NSW RFS development at the airport, and the creation of the internal audit committee which oversees the risk management of Council operations.

I have participated in each of these three committees.

During my terms in Council, Council has had success in a new residential development which has been part of increased residential growth.

Industry-wise, the existing industries have continued to grow to meet local and Australian needs, with a highlight being one manufacturing business being acquired by a global distributor.

I’d like to see current businesses encouraged to meet the challenges ahead and hopefully attract new businesses to complement existing businesses and provide extra growth and employment for the shire.

I’ve been a farmer for 47 years and I wish to continue advocating for the rural residents, but we need to support the residential and business community to continue success in the rural sector.

I would be looking for a more senior leadership role in the next Council if elected.
