Cowra Council 2021 election candidate Donna Peters says if elected she would push the new council to prepare and launch Cowra into the next 50 years. She said she would like to see the new Councillors commence discussions about Cowra’s future, while maintaining Council’s grass roots responsibilities. Mrs Peters said she would advocate for employment opportunities at Cowra Airport.
She said she believed the Airpark on Boundary Road would be of better use as a residential area with private hangers on each property, as opposed to an industrial area as it is currently zoned as. “I would actively encourage more aero businesses to establish themselves in Cowra,” she said.
Mrs Peters believes tourism is also the key to Cowra’s future, and has a number of ideas on how to boost tourism for the town.
“I would encourage the tourist dollar to town with more community events such as regular ‘Buskers Picnics’, a ‘Walk of Fame’, and more public art spaces,” she said.
“I believe revamping the Macquarie Street precinct with public art, a space for an outdoor cinema screen, cosmopolitan eateries and seating, improved mood lighting and planting will also make Cowra a more attractive town.”
Mrs Peters said she would also look at a number of “grass roots” issues, such as improved standard of road repairs, maintenance of the riverbank around the low level bridge, and possible services for West Cowra. If elected, she would also raise cost efficiencies for Council, such as more efficient ways of improving the current septic issues in West Cowra.
