RDA Recycles Goods Into Funds At Cowra MRF

Cowra’s Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) Centre have taken over operations at the MRF recycling shop for 12 months in a bid to raise much needed funds for the care of their horses.

“The RDA approached Council with a thorough proposal for its volunteers to operate the shop which included volunteers manning the store for a minimum of four hours every day, sorting all materials left at the shop, ensuring the shop is maintained in a neat orderly fashion and testing and tagging all white goods before sale,” Director of Infrastructure and Operations, Dirk Wymer explained.

RDA Cowra Centre Secretary, Lesley Cumming explained that running the recycling shop will assist in “raising funds for the care of our horses and growth of our organisation”.

“All profit will go to the RDA Cowra Centre to maintain the running of our service for the benefit of the Cowra community,” Mrs Cumming said.

Solely a volunteer organisation with around 40 volunteers, the Cowra RDA Centre has been operating since 1993 providing horse riding opportunities for over 130 riders in the Cowra community through their school program and the ‘Giddy up Club’ held every Tuesday and Wednesday through the school term.

“At the conclusion of the 12 month period, Council will conduct a review to either return to its current operation with the MRF attendants running the shop, or advertise an Expression of Interest for the following 12 month term,” Mr Wymer said.
