Rotary & Red Radials Raises Almost $5K For CINC
The Rotary Club of Cowra has raised $4820, with around $1800 being raised in conjunction with the Red Radial planes.
An auction was held online last week with bidders bidding for a 15-minute joy flight on a red radial aircraft, with bidding coming to a close last Thursday. The Red Radials ended up giving both the winner and second highest bidder joy flights to thank them for their impressive support of the cause.
About $3000 was already raised prior to the red radial auction.
Cowra Rotary Club President Ian Docker said Rotary was donating the proceeds to CINC to thank them for keeping struggling locals fed during the recent COVID-19 outbreak in Cowra.
The Red Radials performed a synchronised flyover of Cowra on Sunday afternoon before leaving town.
Cowra Shire Council candidate Donna Peters said she was impressed with their efforts, and that she would push for more improvements at the airport after speaking to the Red Radials
“With the NSW Rural Fire Service now established at Cowra Airport this will increase the ability to fully ultilise the facility,” she said.
“I will advocate for the allocation of a designated all-weather helicopter landing and parking area. In the future we may need to support the landing and taking-off of an ‘Elvis’ and other emergency helicopters.”
Ms Peters said she would also investigate a full length, all-weather taxiway alongside the existing runaway to increase aircraft capacity at the airport.
