A committed and active member of the community Ruth Fagan said she was standing for Cowra Shire Council to continue her strong advocacy and support for business and development in the town.
Standing for her fifth term Mrs Fagan is involved in many organisations and takes a very active role in all Council committees being the Chair of the Festival of International Understanding, the Civic Centre Reference Group and the Cultural Council.
Mrs Fagan said she was a committee member of the very successful Cowra Nature Based Adventure Playground and is an energetic member of Cowra Tourism, Cowra Business Chamber and is the Treasurer of the Cowra Showground, Racecourse and Paceway Management.
As a Board Member of Cowra’s Ability Network she is looking forward to developing the new Ability Farm. Her role as Chair of Regional Development Australia, Central West Board gives her many opportunities to promote Cowra’s economy to the region, she said.
Trained as a journalist Mrs Fagan has worked and owned businesses in Cowra in a range of industries including print media, tourism at The Vineyard Motel, agriculture with Rothbury Estate Vineyard, at NSW Joint Regional Planning Panel and retail owning The Bottom Drawer gift shop and The Closet - women’s clothing store. Western Regional Manager of the NSW Cancer Council and Executive Officer for the Western Division Councils of NSW were also part of Mrs Fagan’s working life.
Mrs Fagan has a Business Degree and presently partners her husband, David, in Raine & Horne real estate Cowra.
