Regional Commissioner for Scouts in western NSW, David Scott, says he is excited about the prospect of restarting Scouts and Cubs in Cowra.

“In past years, Cowra has had a very strong Scout and Cub group and we’d like the opportunity for Cowra and surrounding district young people – boys and girls - to have the chance of experiencing Scouting,” he said.

“We have a Scout Hall and two experi enced leaders, ready to go! In order to commence, we need around 20 youth members and a supporting parent com-mittee.”

In addition to the traditional Scouting activities of bushcraft, hiking, canoeing and sailing, youth members can develop skills in science, engineering, technology and cultural areas.

Scouts has groups focusing on environment and another called “Messengers of Peace”, something very relevant to Cowra.

It focuses on giving all youth members the chance of building their leadership skills.

Scouts sections include: Joey Scout – 5-8 years, Cub Scouts 8-11 years, Scout 11-14 years and Venturers, 14 -18 Years. For further information please contact David Scott, Regional Commissioner, on 0438 612874.
