Services Encouraged To Join My Community Directory
Local community service providers in and around Cowra are being encouraged to join the “ My Community Services” website, in order for locals to know where to go to find them.
Facilitator of the website in Cowra, Pascale Stendell, said the directory only has 14 ser-vices registered in Cowra presently, but could have “hundreds”.
She said it was an important tool to give locals access to the contact information of services they may need, and that it had been fully endorsed by Cowra Shire Council.
She said that the website target community groups and not-for-profit organisations that provided either free or low-cost community services. “We’re looking for organisations such as churches, sports and arts groups, NDIS providers, government subsidised services, and all other community groups,” she said. “My Community Directory is a free listing of professional support, Australia wide, so it’s a great chance to promote services from Cowra outside of Cowra too.”
She said that the website was gaining support across the country, and that the Cowra page could be accessed directly through the Cowra Council website under the “Our Community” and “Community Services” tabs.
“It takes about one hour to register your service, and I am able to help services set up their listings on the website if they need assistance,” she said. Pascale is taking the lead on building the website’s reputation in Cowra. She volunteers with the Cowra Adult Survivors of Child Abuse group, as well as the Cowra and District Band, and It Matters Musical Work-shops.
