School Holiday Skills To Boost Hospitality

Young people across region are set to benefit from fee-free hospitality training during the winter school holidays to help them get the skills they need for the jobs they want.

Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke said the hospitality industry offers incredible opportunities and this initiative will give students aged 16 and above a great head start in the industry.

Courses available include Statement of Attainment in Hospitality Skills, Statement of Attainment in Espresso Coffee and Food Safety Supervisor.

Minister for Skills and Training Alister Henskens said 1,000 free training places are up for grabs as part of a new NSW Government initiative.

Since February, the NSW Government has delivered 10,000 fee-free Respon-sible Service of Alcohol (RSA) courses. Training will be delivered during the July and September school holiday periods (4-15 July 2022 and 26 September–7 October 2022) and are available through TAFE NSW and other registered training organisations.

Women Encouraged To Apply For Return To Work Grants

Women looking for work will be able to apply for grants of up to $5,000 to fund technology, training and work essentials to help them return to the workforce, thanks to a $32 million investment in the recent NSW Budget.

Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke has encouraged eligible women to apply for the Return to Work Program and tailored support from a Return to Work Coordinator.

Be Part Of The 65th Annual Seniors Festival

The call is out for local organisations to help fill a calendar of engaging and empowering activities for older people during the 2023 NSW Seniors Festival. Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke said the $200,000 NSW Seniors Festival Grants Program supports initiatives that encourage people aged 60 or over to stay healthy, connected to their community and active.

Minister for Seniors Mark Coure said the NSW Seniors Festival is the largest event of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and has been running for more than 60 years

“These grants reinforce the NSW Government’s commitment to helping older people in NSW stay connected with their community as outlined in the Ageing Well in NSW: Seniors Strategy 2021–2031.” The Seniors Festival will run from 1 – 12 February 2023. Wyangala Dam Public School Enters Consultation Process

Wyangala Dam Public School may enter recess next term, with its two students from term two moving on to other schools.

The school confirmed in its last newsletter for term 2 it has started the Consultation Process, with the possibility of it going into recess.

This process involves investigating the school’s future.

The Director of the district is convening the process with representatives from the P&C and school staff.

A decision on the school’s future is expected to be announced early in term 3.
