NSW Government Supporting Customers Impacted By Optus Data Breach

The NSW Government is working with Optus to support customers affected by the recent cyber attack.

Optus has confirmed some customers may have had a range of information accessed including passport and driver licence details as a result of the breach. Information potentially accessed will vary depending on what was originally provided by the customer to Optus. Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke said customers in NSW can immediately begin the recovery process by ordering a replacement licence.

“A $29 replacement fee will be charged and reimbursement advice will be is-sued by Optus,” Ms Cooke said.

“The replacement licence will include a new card number for customers and can be sent to customers in a matter of weeks with the Digital Driver Licence updated in a matter of hours.”

NSW customers who need support regarding the replacement of identity documents and advice on preventative actions they can take, are encouraged to contact ID Support NSW on 1800 001 040 Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.

Staying Home Leaving Violence Services Expanded To Cowra

An innovative program that helps victim-survivors of domestic violence to stay safely in a home of their choice is being expanded to 14 additional local government areas across the state.

Minister for Women’s Safety and the Prevention of Domestic and Sexual Violence, Natalie Ward, said the expansion of the Staying Home Leaving Violence program would provide support to more vulnerable women across NSW. Minister for Women, Regional Health and Mental Health Bronnie Taylor said the program is another example of the NSW Government expanding comprehensive services to support domestic violence victim-survivors right across the state.
The Local Government Areas to have the program for the first time include: Mid-Coast
Muswellbrook and Upper Hunter
Armidale, Uralla and Walcha
Canterbury and Burwood
Georges River
Sutherland
Wagga Wagga and Junee
Parkes, Forbes and Cowra
Bathurst and Lithgow
Mid-Western Queanbeyan-Palerang

Under phase three, the program is be-ing trialled across three Local Government Areas where demand is lower, or where there are geographical barriers to accessing mainstream services, including the Blue Mountains, Lachlan and Weddin, and Snowy Monaro Regional Council.

The trial will include combining techno-logical solutions and outreach services to deliver safety planning and case management support.

Support available to victim-survivors through Staying Home Leaving Violence can include improved home security, intensive case management, legal assistance, and financial advice.

The Staying Home Leaving Violence program has already helped more than 4,500 women and children to stay safe. The expansion of this program will help support an additional 2,100 women and children across the state.
