$20 Million To Support First Nations Led Response To Domestic Violence
A $20 million funding envelope of combined NSW and Commonwealth Government funds has been allocated under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap to halve the rate of family violence against First Nations women and children by 2031. The funding will support delivery of Target 13 of the National Agreement, which acknowledges that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people should participate in the design and delivery of policies, programs and services that affect their communities so that better life outcomes are achieved. NSW Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, Jodie Harrison said the funding will support Department of Communities and Justice led projects across three primary areas:
1. Self Determination – where solutionsare led by Aboriginal people and communities with a focus on long term and generational change.
2. Prevention – where violence and abuse against Aboriginal women and children is prevented through early intervention.
3. Integrated Services – where recovery is encouraged and supported through an integrated service system that provides wholistic healing with wrap-around support for Aboriginal women, children and men.
Australian AI Breakthrough Predicts Patient Deterioration 24 Hours In Advance, Saving Lives
Breakthrough Australian AI technology can forecast whether a patient will need intensive care or possibly die more than 24 hours in advance giving clinicians the chance to intervene early. The new technology called the Ainsoff Deterioration Index™ (ADI) has reduced adverse events and the length of time patients have to stay in hospital, according to new research. The Ainsoff Deterioration Index™ (ADI) is a machine learningbased tool used to predict the risk of patient deterioration, and alert clinicians via mobile devices in real-time. In addition to a score of risk, ADI alerts also display a clinically useful summary of the patient’s condition to aid in escalation.
The sensitivity and accuracy of the tool means that alerts are only generated for patients genuinely at risk of deterioration, far enough in advance to enable clinical teams to act and prevent serious outcomes and long-term issues. The product’s dashboard also provides a visual summary of acuity for all patients providing organisational insight to workload and risk.

Welcome Help At Hand For First Home Buyers
First home buyers will enjoy significant savings after the NSW Parliament passed legislation to make stamp duty exemptions and concessions available to more people. This enacts a key commitment of the Minns Labor Government to implement a fairer, simpler way to help more first home buyers. Under the reforms, the stamp duty exemption threshold will rise from $650,000 to $800,000 on July 1, 2023. Additionally, stamp duty concessions will apply to properties worth between $800,000 and $1 million.
