Songs & Snags At River Park
The smell of sausage sandwiches and coffee blended with the sound of live singers and toe tapping on Friday the 1st of April as Cowra seniors treated themselves to ‘Songs & Snags in the park.’
As one of the last events on the calendar for this year’s Seniors Festival, Songs and Snags still remains one of the most popular events for seniors and their families every year. Despite the wind and an unexpected drop in temperature, the audience continued to grow well into the afternoon.
Local artists provided entertainment with beautiful vocals, drumming, harmonicas and songs from the past that brought smiles to the faces in the crowd. Rotary were hard at work cooking the sausages that warmed the bellies of many in the chilly wind.
By all reports on the day, the Seniors Festival has been a big hit this year and with the event coming to a close some are sad to see it end. While the festival may only run once a year, it gives our senior citizens a chance to reconnect and be together. Following the last two years of lockdowns, which left a large portion of the Cowra residents alone with no social contact, many participants were understandably eager to get involved and take part in the events once again.
