Cowra Shire Council 2021 election candidate Erin Watt says she would push for Council to make Cowra a sustainable hub and represent local youth if she is elected on December 4.

Ms Watt, 29, is the youngest candidate at this year’s election, and believes it’s time Cowra’s youth are represented on council. She said sustainability and climate action was a driving factor in her becoming politically involved.

“Cowra’s Container Deposit Scheme processing hub has been a huge suc-cess and building up Cowra to be a Sustainable Hub will build a strong industry for the future”

“We need to look after our planet and beautiful country for the generations to come.”

“I think Council could work with local businesses to improve local recycling, and I’d also like to see each household provided with a food waste and compost bin by Council.” she said

Ms Watt was involved in establishing the Cowra Skate Park in her youth, and she said would act as the voice for youth in the Council Chambers if elected.

“I want to engage with the Cowra Youth Council and other young people to learn what they need, and create more places for young people to congregate in Cowra” she said.

Ms Watt recently ran a community survey and would continue to run these if elected to keep in touch with the community.
