Cowra’s Riding for the Disabled Association, Pony and Jockey Club’s will all benefit from funding to upgrade their facilities at the Cowra Showground.

A $381,763 grant was announced by the Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke last week which will fund the construction of arena, a disabled toilet block and a shade structure at the RDA and pony club sites, as well as a new sponsors area at the Jockey Club.

Ms Cooke said the investment was helping to create a more accessible community space.

“Showgrounds are such an important space in our communities and this work will ensure the many Riding for the Disabled and Pony Club attendees can enjoy the sport they love,” Ms Cooke said.

“Accessibility is vital and this means everyone from volunteers, riders and spectators can be more comfortable when they visit the showground.” RDA Treasurer Ruth Fagan said the improvements would be a huge boost to the showground’s users.

“This is fantastic, it will be a real boost to our stakeholders, the Riding for the Disabled and the Pony Club in particular who have more than 50 users of the showground every week,” Cr Fagan said.

“This helps us offer an accessible amenities block for those riders and their volunteers and will also mean the riders can participate in all weathers which will make a huge difference to them.”
