Community Art Exhibition and Competition, a dynamic project aimed at promoting creativity and sustainability within the community.

The project will unfold over four stages, commencing with community workshops, followed by a local exhibition and competition. Selected artists will then have the opportunity to compete at the Regional Showcase, which will take place in Dubbo in September 2025.

The first stage, a Community Workshop, will be held on 1 April 2025 at the Cowra Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), Glenlogan Road, starting at 9:30 AM.

Cowra Council invites all residents of the Cowra Shire to participate in this informative and engaging session. Local artist Shani Nottingham, a seasoned professional with extensive experience in this field, will facilitate the workshop.

This workshop offers an excellent opportunity for individuals and groups to share ideas, seek guidance, and gain expert advice on creating art from waste materials. Whether you have a clear concept in mind or are seeking inspiration, the workshop will provide valuable insight on how to transform waste into art.

Each year, WASTE 2 ART highlights a particular waste stream. In 2025, the theme is The Year of Toys, designed to raise awareness about this growing waste issue. While participants are encouraged to explore this theme, they are not required to incorporate toys into their artwork.

The workshop is free of charge for all residents of the Cowra Region.

Additionally, entry to the local WASTE 2 ART Exhibition and Competition is also free.

To register for the workshop or for further information, please express your interest via the Ask Anthony feature on the Cowra MRF App or contact the MRF directly at 6340 2140.

Early booking is recommended as places are limited.

We look forward to seeing the innovative and inspiring art that will emerge from this exciting initiative.
