FAMILIES INTO SPORT DAY
The Cowra Sport and Recreation Committee are proud to launch the inaugural Families into Sport Day. Set to take place on Sunday October 13 at River Park the day will be action packed with activities in a “round robin” format giving families an opportunity to sample 9 of the currently available sports in Cowra. Cowra Jr Soccer Club, Cowra Senior and Junior Rugby League, Cowra Golf Club, PCYC Basketball, Cowra Aussie Rules Club, Cowra Triathlon Club, Cowra Junior Cricket, Cowra Senior Cricket, Cowra Little Athletics and Cowra Stingrays Swimming Club will all be on hand to run our participants through some fun and games in their given sports. It not just for the kids! We also encourage parents, guardians and carers to be involved and enjoy a great day outdoors. Registration is free and all participants can enjoy a BBQ lunch, and all our child participants will receive a bag full of information and giveaways.
Cowra Sport and Rec Committee Chairman Marc McLeish said that the day is just about getting people out and about. “We are all about encouraging kids into healthy choices and active lifestyles, we have some amazing sporting clubs that create platforms for kids to participate and at the same time support kids that have potential to pursue their chosen sport professionally.
This Day is a taste test for several of those sports. When Golf Pro Tom Perfect bought the idea forward it was unanimous at the committee table that we make it a reality”.
Its not just for kids Marc said, “The senior sporting clubs in town are also keen to get more participants so we encourage all and sundry to follow the link or scan the QR code and hopefully we can build this day into a bigger and better annual event”.
