World Day Of Prayer To Be Commemorated In Cowra
The World Day of Prayer for 2023 will be held on Friday 3rd March at the Cowra Baptist Church, with all men, women and children welcome to attend.
The service will begin at 10am at the church, which is located at 2 Bourke Street, Cowra, with this year’s theme being Taiwan.
Started in 1926, it is a world-wide international and interdenominational movement, initiated by Christian women to unite nations through prayer. Its purpose is to see national change, and lives impacted by “acts of God” through prayer and financial assistance.
People from over 150 nations take part in the event once per year, held on or close to the first Friday in March.
Each year there is a desig-nated theme for the needs identified by the women of a specific country. This year the featured country is Taiwan, and the theme is “I have heard about your faith”.
During the service there is a voluntary offering, and all money given this year will be given to help disadvantaged and isolated women in Taiwan (as will be demonstrated during the service).
Importantly, all volunteers and workers in the organisation are unpaid; the only expense taken out is the printing or programs, etc.
With much of the world currently in turmoil and uncertainty in many ways, World Day of Prayer welcomes you to join in prayer and action for peace and justice.
A delicious afternoon tea will follow the service.
